Associate Attorney – Civil Defense Litigation | California
We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Associate Attorney to join a fast-growing California civil defense practice group. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who thrives in a dynamic environment, values mentorship, and enjoys meaningful client interaction and hands-on litigation experience.
Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and respond to complaints, motions, and written discovery

Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as needed

Communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel

Manage a caseload of up to 30 matters independently

Mentor junior associates (a plus)

Maintain billable hours and contribute to team success
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
-
Active California Bar license in good standing

2+ years of civil defense litigation experience, ideally in one or more of the following areas: general liability, mass tort, toxic tort, construction defect, labor and employment, or insurance defense

Experience taking and defending depositions, appearing in court, and drafting motions and discovery

Mediation and trial experience strongly preferred

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general legal software
Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $120,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience

Quarterly performance bonuses based on billable hours (1950)
